How to Use Safely on Cats
-
Locate and Isolate the Mat: Gently separate the tangled fur from the surrounding clear coat. Work on only one small knot at a time.
-
Protect the Skin: Always place your fingers firmly between the base of the mat and your cat's skin. This supports the skin fold and ensures you do not pull or tug on the cat's body.
-
Use Short, Gentle Strokes: Hold the de-matting tool securely. Using short, comb-like motions, work from the outer edges of the mat inward to gently split the knot. Let the blades do the cutting work—never yank or force the tool through the fur.
-
Always Redirect: Cats can be sensitive to extended grooming. Keep sessions short, and always reward your cat with an approved treat afterward to build a positive routine.
⚠️ Feline Grooming Safety Disclaimer: Feline skin is incredibly thin, loose, and easily stretched. De-matting tools contain functional blades and must be handled with extreme care. Never use this tool near your cat's eyes, ears, whiskers, paws, sanitary areas, or deep skin folds (like the armpits). If your cat has severe, pelted matting tight against the skin, or if the skin underneath appears red, raw, or irritated, do not attempt to clear it yourself; consult a professional groomer or veterinarian for safe removal.
