Handmade by Billy Albin Rawhide & Leather Braided Curb HM955

Billy Albin isn’t just a maker of fine cowboy gear; he is a champion competitor, seasoned horse trainer, and a true master of traditional rawhide braiding. Operating from his workshop in Comanche, Texas, Billy transforms raw, untanned cowhides into exquisite, functional pieces of braided art. His deep, lifelong understanding of horsemanship ensures that every custom bosal, hackamore, quirt, and pair of romal reins he creates delivers an unmatched feel, body, and communication between horse and rider.

What truly sets Billy’s work apart is his complete dedication to the traditional, hands-on process. Long before the braiding begins, he personally processes the hides—meticulously removing the hair, curing the skin, and hand-cutting and beveling each individual rawhide string down to the millimeter. This painstaking preparation results in heirloom-quality gear built to withstand heavy ranch work while remaining beautiful enough for the show ring. When you own a piece of Billy Albin rawhide, you are investing in authentic cowboy history and elite craftsmanship.
