In Memory of Roger Langford

Cowboy, Artist, Friend.

A life lived in the saddle, a legacy painted on canvas.

Roger Langford was more than an artist. He was a cowboy who lived the life he captured. His work adorns Teskey’s in murals, calendars, and prints, reminding us of the grit, grace, and spirit of the West. This tribute honors his journey as a ranch hand, rodeo cowboy, and celebrated Western artist, whose brushstrokes continue to tell stories long after his final ride.

The Cowboy’s Journey

1930s–1940s | West Texas Roots

Born and raised near Draw, Texas, Roger grew up surrounded by the rugged beauty of the plains, the very scenes he would later paint.

1962–1976 | Rodeo Cowboy

Roger competed as a bull rider and was part of both the RCA and PRCA. He also worked as a ranch hand, flank man, and pickup man with the Steiner brothers, playing a role in rodeo events from Texas circuits to the NFR.

Late 1970s | Turning to Art

After an injury ended his rodeo career, Roger turned to painting and sculpture. His cowboy past gave his work authenticity that few could match.

1980s–2000s | Recognition and Legacy

Roger became the Official Artist of the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame. His paintings were featured on calendars, promotional pieces, and in western art collections nationwide.

Teskey’s Connection

Roger’s work lives large at Teskey’s. His paintings and murals can be found throughout our store, from the large mural in Outfitters to pieces featured in our annual calendar. His artwork is also proudly showcased on our famous Teskey’s trailer, a traveling tribute that carries his vision wherever it goes. Customers and friends alike continue to be surrounded and inspired by his legacy every time they visit.

2025 | A Final Ride

Roger Langford passed away on September 15, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of Western life, spirit and artistry that continues to inspire.

Roger Langford revealed that the cowboy spirit is more than a way of life. Through his art, he preserved its heart and soul for generations to come. Though he has taken his final ride, his work will forever inspire, comfort, and remind us of the true meaning of the West.
