Marjorie Reed (1915–1996) was a Western artist best known for her vivid depictions of the Butterfield Overland Stage Route. Trained by her commercial artist father and later by California painter Jack Wilkinson Smith, she began working professionally as a teenager. Reed spent decades traveling and sketching historic stage stations across the Southwest, creating a celebrated series of paintings purchased by San Diego publisher James S. Copley. Her work, sometimes signed with male pseudonyms like Harvey Day, reflects a deep commitment to accuracy, atmosphere, and the romance of the American West.
