-------
Western-raised Charlie Dye became a renowned painter, inspired by Charles Russell. A founding member of the Cowboy Artists of America in 1965, he maintained his membership for life. His childhood on a ranch, working with horses and cattle, deeply influenced him. After a horse accident, he pursued art, attending institutes and initially designing egg cartons. He later became a successful illustrator in New York, contributing to major magazines. Moving to Colorado, he taught art while his paintings gained recognition. Eventually, Dye relocated to Sedona, Arizona, fully dedicating himself to painting. There, he co-founded the Cowboy Artists of America, an achievement he considered his most significant. Known for his outspoken nature and loyalty, particularly to fellow artists, Dye won the first gold medal in 1967 for his oil painting "Through the Aspens," now a fixture at the Cowboy Hall of Fame.
