Ray Anderson was a consummate craftsman whose deep roots in the Lone Star State shaped a lifetime of dedicated metalwork. Born in West Texas in 1928, Ray’s education in blacksmithing began early on the family farm, where he worked alongside his father making knives and repairing broken spurs. This early exposure to practical, hands-on problem solving sparked a lifelong passion for the trade.

After refining his forging and welding skills in high school, Ray went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army and later spent years working in the demanding environments of the Texas oil fields.

In 1977, driven by a passion for Western history and preservation, Ray turned his attention fully to the art of spur making. An avid collector of historic Western memorabilia, he completely taught himself the craft by meticulously studying the engineering and artistry of vintage pairs within his personal Texas spur collection.

Operating out of Weatherford, Texas, Ray became highly regarded for his dedication to traditional craftsmanship, blending rugged utility with historic authenticity. Today, his work remains a testament to the enduring spirit and heritage of classic Texas spur making.
